NFL Franchise Houston Texans to Accept Cryptocurrencies for Single Game Suites

The crypto wallet company Bitwallet has announced that it has signed a deal to the National Football League (NFL) Houston Texans. Fans will be able to purchase single game packages and pay using four different digital assets. Bitwallet’s website states that it is the official wallet of Houston Texans’ and shows that the software supports bitcoin, litecoin, Bitcoin cash (BCH) , and ethereum .

In a statement, Greg Grissom, Houston Texans president, said that Bitwallet is a proud partner. Grissom stated that the NFL continues to push the organization forward in innovative and new ways.

The Texans claim to be among the first teams to accept cryptocurrency for suite sales. In recent years, some NFL teams have opened up to cryptocurrency exposure through sponsorship deals. Blockchain.com formed a partnership with Dallas Cowboys in April 2022. Grayscale Investments was then named the official digital currency asset management partner of the New York Giants in May 2021.

A number of NFL players, including Odell Beckham Jr. and Saquon Barkley have invested in cryptocurrency, backed non-fungible tokens (NFT), participated in crypto giveaways or been paid in bitcoin. Other professional sports teams have also jumped on crypto. Mid-March 2021, Major League Baseball’s Oakland Athletics (A) began accepting bitcoin to purchase full season suites.

John T. Perrone, Bitwallet CEO, said that the company was proud to offer crypto to Texans fans during the announcement. Perrone noted that digital currency has been a major means of payment, and the Texans have partnered with BitWallet to make this possible. The Houston Texans was founded in 1999 and is one of only four NFL teams to not make it to the Super Bowl.
